The Meade 8" LX200 SCT has an aperature of 200 mm (8 in.), focal length of 2000 mm, f-stop of f/10.
Magnification = TFL/EPFL = (telescope focal length) / (eye piece focal length)
Actual field of view (in degrees) = (diameter of eyepiece field stop x 57) / (telescope focal length)
In this equation, the "57" converts radians to degrees.
Exit pupil size = eyepiece focal length / telescope focal = EPFL/TFL
The width of the threaded opening on the back of the 8" Meade telescope is 1.5 in (38 mm), not 2 inches.

For field of view (FOV) reference, the full moon has a 0.5° disk, the Pleiades is 2°, North American Nebula is 3°
Vignetting will occur when using the 41mm Televue Panoptic eyepiece with an 8" SCT telescope due to the 1-1/2" fixed backplate opening.
Nevertheless, you will get the maximum possible unvignetted view with this eyepieces, and disregard the vignetted outer zone.

My Meade 8" LX200 is one the "classic" (i.e., non-gps series) manufactured in 1999. The 1.25" series 4000 plossel eyepieces that came with the scope enabled me to see craters on the moon and rings of saturn, but I found them dark and difficult to use when wearing eyeglasses. Despite carefully collimating and tuning the scope, my bserving capacity was so severely limited that I found myself discouraged and longing for something better.

I knew the secret was high quality eyepieces and star diagonals. The cost, however prohibitive, which kept me saving for two years. But it made all the difference. In the end, I spent more on three Televue eyepieces as I did on the telescope, but it's transformed the little 8-inch SCT into a decent piece of equipment. When collimated and fine-tuned, the planets and deep space objects are bright and crisp.

Eyepice Size - 1.25 or 2-inch?.  You may not know it, but 2" eyepieces, diagonals will fit on the little 8-inch SCT. The threaded opening on the back of the scope has the same, standard SCT threads that the larger scopes have. I screw on a JMI focuser or 2" eyepiece holder. The inner opening, however, is only 1.5 inches on the 8-inch SCT. This results is some vignetting on the wide-field Nagler and Panoptic eyepieces, but you don't really notice it badly and the gain in view with these eyepieces makes it worth it.
