What I do:
Very few people in life can say with complete honesty that they really enjoy what they do for a living - I am thankful to be one of them. I am an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Bucknell University where my focus is primarily on educating undergraduates. I enjoy interacting with my students, and I am glad that I'm at a place like Bucknell where my class sizes are small enough to do this. For fellow educators, I've included some samples of work from different classes I've taught under the Teaching section.
Research is also an important part of what I do. At this point in my career, my primary research focus is in design methodology for the synthesis of compliant mechanisms. One of my main goals is to develop formalized methods for the design of compliant mechanisms which build designer intuition. To do this, I believe that it is necessary to provide insight into why a design is "right" by considering the function of smaller building blocks which comprise a design. Learn more about my research interests under the Research section.
Your feedback please...
I am a firm believer that there is nothing new under the sun. While I hope that my teaching and research activities are novel and unique, I am sure that there a bunch of other people in the world who have taken similar approaches or maybe have done much of the same. Feel free to let me know what you think about the content you see here.
