Pyramids on the Penisula

Heading out to the Otago Peninsula on a summer's day, we first stopped at Sandfly Bay (30kb) Then we headed all the way out to the cliffs at the tip of the peninsula - lots of fur seals and shags in this area (44kb) Looking back down the peninsula (23kb) Keep away from the cliffs! (40kb) Just below the Royal Albatross Centre, watching gulls and sea lions (57kb)
Heading out on a walk toward the Pyramids (42kb) After climbing one of the Pyramids, you get a spectacular view down the coast (26kb) On Victory Beach - not too many people! (15kb) We got awfully lucky here - a rare yellow eyed penguin walked right across this beach in front of us (11kb) Looking down at Sandfly Bay again - a nice walk down these dunes, but a long way back up! (27kb)
From the penguin hide at Sandfly Bay - we watched several penguins walk out of the sea at dusk and up the hills to feed their chicks, who were up in the grass (38kb) Looking back toward Sandfly Bay - that is Sandymount at the far end of the beach (46kb) Heading back toward the car - this must have been on Watangui Day, a national holiday (22kb)
