This picture was taken just before Memorial Day in Anchorage, Alaska where my brother in-law lives. Another 2 miles up this mountain through the not yet plowed snow lies the site of the Alaska Gold Rush from nearly 100 years ago. In another 5 days or so, this snow would have been plowed in preparation for the summer tourism season in Alaska, but alas, we did not have that much time, so we walked a few miles through the snow -- uphill in both directions!
