Palmer Family Data
John Palmer (10/26/1773 - 3/29/1861) married Mary Reed (1787 - 2/12/1875). John and his brother were born in Scotland, immigrated with their mother, and were shipwrecked before reaching Philadelphia. Only John is believed to have survived. He was a tenant farmer in the Turbotville/McEwensville area of Northumberland County, and was in his 60's when his only son was born (Mary was almost 50). They also had a daughter, Margaret, who married a Low or Lowe gentleman.
Son James, born 183?, died 1912, married Mary Bruch (or Bruck) who lived 1834-1919. She was the daughter of Peter Bruch and Mary Anne Dell*, also of Northumberland County. They had 12 children:
Emma (1855-1881) m. Albert Bergenstock*
Mary Agnes (1857-1946) m. N. Calvin Robenalt*
Sarah Alice (9/26/1858-9/14/1936) m. Clinton C. Yagel*
Margaret Jane (1861-1949) m. John Harrison Barber
John F. (1862-1864) and his twin, Thomas (1862-1864)
daughter who died as an infant, d.3/14/1865
Ida Ellen (1866-1937) m. 1st James Bergenstock*, m. 2nd William Snyder*
daughter born and died 3/11/1868
Elizabeth Lowe (1869-1948) m. William Clinton Kerr*
Follmer Dell (1872-1957) m. Irene Edna Renner*
Wayland R., MD (1877-1936) m. 1st Mary Stitzer, m. 2nd Amy Eliason*
In 1895, this family gathered for the first Palmer family reunion to visit together before the families of Lizzie and William Kerr and Follmer and Irene Palmer relocated with the Watsontown Table Works to Hagerstown, MD.
All children born to the sons in this generation of Palmers were daughters, thus there is no one living named Palmer from this line.
* - I have additional information on children of these marriages
