NUCLEUS

Location:

  • Within the cytoplasm, surrounded by nuclear membrane.

Function:

The cell nucleus forms the package for our genes and their controlling factors It is located in the cytoplasm of the cell. It:

  • Stores genes in the form of chromosomes, which allows for cell division,
  • Transports gene products by way of nuclear pores,
  • Produces the messages that code for proteins,
  • Produces ribosomes in the nucleolus,
  • Organizes the uncoiling of DNA to replicate important genes.
