The One Minute Paper
The one minute paper gets written feedback on a small number of questins
(2 or 3) about a specific class session or topic. Here are some typical
questions.
-
What was
the most important thing you learned today?
-
What questions
do you have that still remain unanswered?
-
What point
is still fuzziest for you at this point?
This exercise takes just a few minutes in most cases. It's a good
idea to let the students respond anonymously if they want. Then you
can give individual feedback - for those who gave their names - and class
feedback for those who didn't give their names.
This exercise also has an aspect of helping students to focus on their
learning process, and that metacognitive aspect helps them become better
learners.
