Directed Paraphrasing
This technique is used to determine the degree to which students have understood
and internalized the main point of a class.

Select a
point in the course after the comletion of a major reading assignment,
important lecture or a complex cooperative-learning activity.

Give them
an assignment to paraphrase something and give them an audience to write
to.

You could
ask them to explain the first law of thermodynamics to first graders.

This kind
of exercise tests students at the Comprehension
level in Bloom's taxonomy.
