I have led sessions on strategies for studying Math and Science as a part of the "Student Success Series" run by Multicultural Student Services.
Below are links to the material I have used during these presentations.
I have also been involved with the The Posse Foundation on campus. As these experiences indicate I believe it is incredibly important to encourage students from typically under-respresented groups to pursue mathematics.
I would like to develop an undergraduate research program. I completed some research with a former Calculus student related to the realizability of (4,7)-nets in complex projective space. Since then I have found other aspects of my research that would be conducive to work with undergraduates. In particular, some recent work with hypergraphs could yield examples of topological interest. I have also been working with Moebius functions on lattices; these are easy to describe, fun work with and could yield some interesting results.
