Project Seven | |
| The goals of this project are to acquaint the student with 1) the various professional associations for biology teachers and the services they provide and 2) the journals that specifically deal with various issues relevant to biology teachers. |
This project will also be completed in your small groups.
Part I:
Professional organizations for the biology teacher are listed on the [Project Seven Resource Page: Professional Organizations]. This page is linked to the HomePages of the various professional organizations. Working as a group visit each of the sites and briefly list the type of organization they are and the services they offer.
Part II:
Also listed on [Project Seven Resource Page: Professional Journals] are many of the journals that publish articles dealing with issues associated with the teaching of biology. Representative journal volumes will be available in the classroom or in the library for your perusal. Working as a group, examine each of the journals indicated by an asterisk plus an additional ten journals of your choice. For each journal indicate in approximately 5 or 6 sentences the nature of the articles they publish, e.g. what issues do they address, how technical is the journal, is it an official publication of some professional society, and would you be likely to read it?
Finally, suppose you had a budget that would allow you to purchase journal subscriptions for your school. You can only afford six journals. Which ones would you choose and why?
