Professional Journals for the Biology Educator
- The American Biology Teacher
Journal of the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) Published
eight times a year, it contains how-to-do-it suggestions for laboratory, field
activities, interdisciplinary programs, and review articles.
- Biochemical
Education
Official journal of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology. The targeted audience for this journal include teachers of biochemistry,
molecular, and cellular biology at the college level. Of use to a high school
teacher of AP classes.
- Biologist
Journal of the Institute of Biology, an affiliation of multiple British
biological societies. Journal published five times a year. A British perspective
on biological issues with some attention given to science education.
- Bioscience
Published monthly by the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS),
an affiliation of multiple biological societies. Articles are very readable.
- Creation/Evolution
Published by the National Center for Science Education, Inc., a not-for-profit
organization. Creation/Evolution is published by NCSE to promote the understanding
of evolutionary science.
- International
Journal of Science Education
Published monthly by Taylor & Francis Ltd, 1 Gunpowder Square,
London EC4A 3DE, UK, John K. Gilbert, University of Reading, UK, Ed. Contains
many excellent scholarly articles dealing with issues of science education.
Contributions from a broad international community.

Published quarterly by the Institute of Biology, London. Contains many
useful articles offering ideas for biology laboratories, general topical reviews,
and issue related articles of use to teachers. One of my favorites.

of all college level sciences.

The official journal of the National Association for Research in Science
Teaching (NARST). John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The homepage of the NARST
provides links to Abstracts of recent articles. Deals with major issues of
science education in a scholarly manor.

Published by Plenum Press. Provides an interdisciplinary forum to publish
original, peer-reviewed articles to improve and enhance science education
at all levels.

Journal of the Association for the Education of Teachers in Science
(AETS). This journal serves as a forum for disseminating research and theoretical
position statements concerning the preparation and in service education of
