Engineering Teamwork

Elements of Good Teamwork

For teams to function well there must be five elements.

1.) Positive Interdependence
Team members are obliged to rely on one another to achieve the goal.

2.) Individual Accountability
All team members are held accountable for doing their share of the work and for mastery of all of the material to be learned.

3.) Face-to-Face Promotive Interaction
Some of the team's work must be done interactively with team members challenging, encouraging, and giving feedback to others.

4.) Appropriate use of Collaborative Skills
Team members must develop and practice trust-building, leadership, decision-making, communication, and conflict management skills.

5.) Group Processing
Team members must set team goals, periodically assess their work, & identify changes for better team effectiveness.
