James Monroe Wiseman

James Monroe Wiseman

This was my grandfather's father, born in Franklin County, Tennessee, July 11, 1860, second-born of Martin Van Buren Wiseman and Mary Ann (Molly) Wakefield. After Martin V. Wiseman died in 1864, Molly Wakefield Wiseman moved to Arkansas, taking James and her other children.
On November 14th, 1886, in Waveland, Arkansas, James married Laura Floretta Bailey (b. October 22, 1868, in Walker County, Georgia, and died of consumption on May 30, 1908). From this union came seven children: Martin Pinkney Wiseman (my grandfather, b. September 16, 1887), Lynn Lee (b. September 17, 1889), Pearl Lorene (b. March 18, 1892), Perry Cothren (b. August 25, 1894), Alma Floy (b. July 27, 1897), Monroe Theron (b. April 6, 1889), and Cora Clementine (b. September 28, 1903). After Laura's death, James married Martha Low (Lackey?), from which union came Eugene Dalton Wiseman (b. June 20, 1911).
James Monroe Wiseman died on February 20, 1944, in Arkansas.

Steve has an excellent Wiseman family site, with wonderful transcriptions of conversations with his grandfather and his mother (Anna Laura Wiseman Coger) and many good photographs.
