Guidelines
for Journal Entries
In your journal, you should record impressions, ideas,
feelings about "living art and making fiction" as inspired by the
weekly common hours. Look for connections to ideas that have been
discussed in our class meetings (such connections won't always be
obvious!). I'm interested in the progress of your thinking about art
generally as well as about fiction specifically. You should consider
art as both process and product. If you react negatively to a common
hour, try to explain what bothered you about it. Same goes for reading
assignments or workshop sessions.
Journal entries will be collected on Fridays. Each entry
should consist of at least a half-page and no more than a single page
(typewritten, single-spaced, 12 point font). Don't forget to date your
entries. Hand in past entries along with the new ones, keeping them
together in a file folder.
