ONLINE EDUCATION AND WEB PUBLISHING
Since 1999, I have worked on developing an Internet pedagogy of "online learning communities". This approach to online learning seeks to extend the physical learning community at colleges to include virtual learning via “blended” learning solutions. This approach was described in an article titled "Management Classroom as Online Learning Community", Journal of Management Education, Dec 1999. Since then my Web Publishing efforts have deepened to building tools for online teaching.
1. I designed the eSocrates Web Based Learning Management System (LMS). There are three versions of the LMS suited for 1) building online learning communities in academic institutions, 2) for content publishing by book Publishers, and 3) enterprise class training management for corporations. These LMSs include registration, tracking, creation of online courses, collaborative tools such as Bulletin Board, Chatroom, Web Polling, Learning Resources, Digital Libraries, Instant Messaging among others.
2. I designed an online software tool (the Knowledge Exchange) that allows instructors to automate the creation of their course Web sites and integrate learning materials and content into them. The system includes basic Digital Rights Management and eCommerce capability.
3. I have developed over 30 Online Courses in Strategic Management, Crisis Management Seminar, Environmental Management, Science, Technology, and Society Colloquium, Web Based Human Resources Management, eCommerce in the Digital Economy, Information Skills, Information Design, and Knowledge Management
4. Guided the development of online degree and certificate Programs for Colleges (Rosemont College, York College, The American Coillege), and Corporations (Day-Timers, Inc., Bethlehem Steel, Inc. LIMRA International, Merrill Lynch, Inc.) in Financial Services, eCommerce and the Digital Economy, eMarketing, Internet Entrepreneurship, eHuman Resources, Crisis Management, and Environmental Management.
5. Developed Workshops and online courses to train Faculty on “Internet Based teaching”. These courses have been used to train Faculty at Laguardia Community College, Muhlenberg College, Penn State University, Wilkes University, Community for Agile Partners in Education, and Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit
