Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Program

A Visiting Scholar spends approximately 2 days on Campus. She or he is expected to deliver one public lecture to a general audience, plus to meet with smaller groups or classes with more specialized interests. The Scholar is expected to participate in approximately 4 events of this kind. Other events that need to be coordinated are meals, a reception after the public lecture if the timing is right, and local travel arrangements such as airport pickups and accommodations. There is a $500 service fee, and local expenses must also be covered.

The Bucknell PBK Chapter will be responsible for inviting the speaker. The visit will be listed as co-sponsored by PBK and the other contributing units.

Please send a brief (one page or less) proposal to PBK Secretary Tom Cassidy (tcassidy@bucknell.edu). It should include the motivation for selection of the speaker, the unit(s) that will be sponsoring him or her, and the person responsible for local arrangements. The officers of the Bucknell Phi Beta Kappa chapter will consider requests and inform all applicants of the outcome.
