Emergency Procedures

Fire

1. Pull the fire alarm at the first sign of smoke.
2. Call Circulation or Reference Desk; Ext. 71882 or 71462
3. Desk calls Public Safety; Ext. 71111
4. Follow prescribed procedures for evacuating staff and patrons.
5. Desk initiates the Disaster Phone Tree.
6. Close doors as offices are evacuated.

Water

1. Call Circulation or Reference Desk; Ext. 71882 or 71462
2. Desk calls Physical Plant; Ext. 71911

5. Do not enter a flooded area until electricity has been turned off by Physical Plant.
6. Move affected materials to a dry area if possible.
7. Cover other affected materials. Plastic drop cloths are stored in stack areas.

Power Outage

6. Distribute flashlights from emergency supplies.
