HW #9 Selected Answers Revised (4/26/2024)

The original answer to Graded Prob. 3 in HW #9 was incorrect. The two complex exponentials should be negative. A revised version of the answers has been posted on the Homework Assignments page.

Exam #4 Solutions (4/26/2024)

The solutions to Exam #4 are now available at the course Moodle site.

Exam #4 Results (4/26/2024)

The average score for Exam #4, including the Prob. 2 score adjustment, was 83.8. The unadjusted average score breakdowns for the individual problems (converted to percentages) were:

  • Prob. 1 - 76%
  • Prob. 2 - 43%
  • Prob. 3 - 90%
  • Prob. 4 - 90%

Timing of Review Session for Final Exam (4/26/2024)

Please think about whether and when a review session should take place. On Sunday, May 5, I will not be available until after 8:30 pm or possibly 9:00 pm. I should be free all day on Friday, May 3. I will schedule multiple in-person and Zoom office hours in the days leading up to the exam.

We will set a date and time for the review session in class on Monday, April 29.

Course Evaluations (4/26/2024)

The course evaluation portal for ECEG 390 is now open and will remain open until 11:59 pm on Monday, April 29.

Final Exam Location (4/26/2024)

The ECEG 390 Final Exam will take place in Academic West 116, our regular Monday classroom. (I wonder whether I will remember to go there instead of the other room.) The exam is still scheduled for 8:00–11:00 am on Monday, May 6.

Notes on Orthogonality of E, H, & Prop. Direction (4/15/2024)

A proof that the electric and magnetic field components of a TEM wave are perpendicular to the direction of propagation and to each other is now available at the course Moodle site in the Supplemental Readings section. The proof might not be the most concise available, but all of the details are explained.

I will not cover the notes in detail in class, but I will refer to them and/or to the proof explained in them from time to time.

Review Session for Exam #4 (4/13/2024)

To help you prepare for Exam #4, an optional review session will be offered at 8:30 pm on Sunday, April 14 in Breakiron 065. The exam room is not available at that time.

Please contact me if you cannot attend the review session but would like to meet with me at some other time before the exam.
